I'm not impressed by many parties, except the ones I throw, but this engagement party in an antique shop was absolutely breathtaking. My aunt threw the party in my parents' hometown of Albemarle, NC, for her fiance's daughter (good luck figuring that family tree out), and nothing could have been better. Fun fact: This antique shop used to be home to a body shop owned by my dad's family. I love places that have so much history and meaning!

The entire front of this shop opens up like a garage, providing instant indoor/outdoor space, which is perfect on a beautiful day.
The dessert bar is many guest's favorite spot (other than the bar) and this one was accented with the bride and groom's initials.
Look at how cute these guacamole and chips appetizers are! Although, I will say, the chips get stale pretty easily if they aren't eaten up in a timely fashion.

One of the best things about having your party in an antique shop is that everything is for sale, even the chairs you're sitting on! If your guests love the decor or items they see, they can take them home, for a price of course.
A mix of long and round tables break up a room and make it more interesting.
Tables as well as soft seating are all important when setting up the perfect party. You want your guests to have somewhere to eat and somewhere to sit and socialize.
DO NOT WEAR WHITE TO AN ENGAGEMENT PARTY! I did not notice my snafu until I looked at the pictures the next morning. Thankfully, the bride wore black so I didn't steal any of her thunder. However, it could have been really bad.
Manners Moral: Don't wear white to someone else's engagement party and remember that the most meaningful locations often make the best venues for your special events.
