For Those of Us Who Love to Lounge Around

“Get out-of-doors the year round. The value of recreation out-of-doors cannot be emphasized too much. If you want the charm that comes from clear skin, healthy hair, bright eyes, and aliveness, get out into the open often. By taking part in some active outdoor sport each season of the year you will make friends and build a foundation for health and charm.” (Everyday Living for Girls)

This is what my ideal Saturday morning looks like: Reading, coffee and fuzzy slippers

I live for lazy Saturday mornings. They're the perfect time to lounge around in my pajamas, catch up on all of my television shows and read to my heart's content. Weekday mornings are spent dragging myself out of bed for work, and Sundays aren't as relaxing because I know there's only 24 hours until I'm back on the clock. On Saturdays, the weekend is still luxuriously in front of me, and I can take the time to really enjoy myself.

However, according to Everyday Living for Girls, I've been doing it wrong my entire life. Instead of posting up in my bed all morning and not knowing what it feels like outside, I should be frolicking out in the fresh air. I guess the ladies who wrote this book are correct. Nothing about a lazy morning says health, vivacity or aliveness. But, if I'm being honest, it does say comfortable and relaxing.

As much as I’m an indoors girl, I’ll try to follow this advice, especially now that we're finally seeing some sunshine and warmth. Although, I don’t know how many (age-appropriate) new friends I’ll make walking around my parent’s neighborhood.

Manners Moral: Get out of bed and take a stroll outside. You can’t be seen as a charming, well-mannered individual if you hide out inside all day. However, if it’s raining, lounge away.
