“Delightful- giving delight: very pleasing”
Language doesn't need to be boring or drab, especially when you're trying to show how much you like something or how excited you are. Open up a Jane Austen novel or any nineteenth century literature and it won't take you long to find the word 'delightful.' Characters are "delighted" to meet someone or find a walk in the garden "absolutely delightful." Today we say things like 'fun,' 'great,' or 'happy.' Those words are all fine and good, but there's nothing special about them.
I like to have fun with the words I use (because I'm a vocab nerd) and have started using delightful in work meetings to express how much I like a particular idea or my willingness to help someone else (ex. 'Yes, I would be absolutely delighted to help you put together that presentation!). Sometimes it gets laughs and random looks, but most of the time it just makes people smile. I've even noticed a few people using the word themselves. Let's be honest, 'delightful' really brightens up a room. It does have 'light' in it after all.
To be a true people person, you've got to be someone that people enjoy talking to and someone that brings a spark to conversations. If you're talking like everyone else, what makes you stand out? Let your personality shine through your language and nothing can hold you back!
Manners Moral: Don't be afraid to use words that may seem odd or different. Spice up your vocabulary, and people will want to listen to you all day.
